CHARACTER
Name: Zatanna Zatara
Canon: Young Justice
Timeline: End of Season 1
If playing another character from the same canon, how will you deal with this?: n/a
Personality:
Zatanna initially gives off an aura of innocence, until which she does everything in her power to prove otherwise. In essence, she's a young rebellious teenager. She's often used her magic to sneak out of the house, or even suggest that her friends kidnap her so she can get away from her overprotective father. She likes to be in the middle of things, so she's confident enough to suggest these plans. She loves to have fun and is always wanting an adventure, and this attitude allows her to fit in with the Team almost instantly. Even Artemis comments, "Oh yeah, she'll fit in perfectly."
She's very easy-going. She has a tendency to come off a bit sarcastic, casually making jokes while talking. She's also a bit flirtatious, especially with Robin. His advances might be a bit lame, she doesn't discourage him. She at least enjoys the attention. She also shares his like for messing around with the English language, taking off prefixes for words like chalant. It's evident that she cares for him in a team sense, but it's unclear whether or not she likes him, even after she kisses him on New Years Eve. She's extremely loyal to her friends. Even immediately after meeting them, she's fighting alongside them, especially when it wasn't her battle. She probably feels the closest to Artemis. She's told Artemis on occasion that she feels secrets are better in the light, and not kept from everyone else. She'd do anything for them, willing to go the extra mile and do things that shouldn't be done, like taking on the mantle of Doctor Fate for a bit to take on an overpowered foe when she couldn't do it with her own abilities.
While she believes in magic and how strong it could be, she recognizes the limitations to her own power. She knows she's nowhere near as strong as her father Zatara, but she's always wanting to learn so she can be. She also recognizes the limits of magic, and greatly respects it. She believes in doing the right thing and fighting for justice, just like her father. She greatly admires him, even if she does think he's overprotective. She gets angry when someone threatens his life, and is genuinely crushed when he sacrifices himself to save her from the fate of Fate's helmet.
She's willingly to go above and beyond, willing to do everything. She refuses to sit on the sidelines. She wants to do what's right, no matter what.
First Person:
Uh, hello?
[Frankly, she's not exactly sure where she was, or why she was on the train in the first place. Who even rides trains anymore? The last thing she remembered was being on the Watchtower, the clock striking midnight. Kissing Robin. She looked down at herself, mental checklist. Still in uniform, so she believed everything happened.]
Does anyone know the quickest way back home? I've got school in the morning. And I'm sure my friends will be looking for me. I'd hate to say it, but you really don't want to make them mad. They're kind of superheroes.
Third Person:
M'gann left first, then Robin. She could barely look up as he lingered there. There was an unspoken 'let us know if you need anything' sort of thing, but even then they really couldn't help her. When the door to new new room slid shut, Zatanna realized the finality of the things that had happened that day. Her father had sacrificed himself to save her from Doctor Fate.
She knew what she was doing. She knew what had to be done to stop Klarion and the others. She willingly put on the helmet to stop them. She chose. She knew it was her fault, and yet, he still did it. It hadn't sunk in until this very moment that she'd never see the father that she knew again. Everyone had been so supportive of her. They helped her pack up her things, no one said anything on the ride there and back. M'gann even volunteered to help if she needed anything.
What she wanted was her father back.
He'd never yell at her for sneaking out again, never get angry for her rebelling. He'd never ground her for life. He'd also never hug her or kiss her goodnight, or help her with her studies and training. He wouldn't be there while she grew up. She wasn't sure what to do now. When her mother had died, her father was there to comfort her and to help her through it. But who would be there now that her father was gone? She collapsed on her new bed, feeling the tears that started to creep up into her eyes. When she let out that first sob, it was the realization that she was alone now. While she had her friends, who undoubtedly would be there for her, her family was all gone.
She wasn't sure how long she cried that night.
